Bentley Torcal platform and positioning
The Torcal is Bentley’s first fully electric car and its first new model line since the Bentayga arrived in 2015. It joins the Continental GT, Flying Spur and Bentayga as a fourth line and sits below the Bentayga as a smaller SUV: at 5,008 mm long, it is the shortest four-door car Bentley makes. Underneath is the Volkswagen Group’s PPE electric architecture, which it shares with the Porsche Cayenne Electric. Bentley designs, engineers and assembles the Torcal at Crewe, on a new production line inside the site’s original 1938 building.
Bentley Torcal powertrain and range
Both versions use two permanent-magnet motors driving all four wheels and a 113 kWh (net) battery on an 800-volt system. The Torcal makes 821 PS and 1,194 Nm, reaching 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h. The Torcal S raises output to 888 PS and 1,350 Nm with Launch Control engaged, which cuts the sprint to 2.9 seconds and lifts the top speed to 260 km/h. At its reveal it was the most powerful car Bentley had built.
Bentley quotes up to 600 km on the WLTP cycle and has not split the figure by version. The battery accepts up to 400 kW on a DC charger, which takes it from 10 to 80 percent in about 16 minutes, and seven minutes plugged in adds about 100 miles (161 km). The battery warranty runs for 10 years or 100,000 miles (161,000 km).
Bentley Torcal chassis
The Torcal has fully active suspension with adaptive two-valve dampers, and the rear wheels steer by up to five degrees, which brings the turning circle down to 11.1 m. The car weighs 2,795 kg unladen and can tow up to 2,700 kg. Luggage space is 460 litres in the boot plus 90 litres under the bonnet.
Inside the Bentley Torcal
A curved OLED centre screen sweeps down into the centre console as one piece. The upholstery includes what Bentley describes as the first 100 percent merino wool automotive fabric to meet luxury-car standards, woven by Fox Brothers in Somerset. The Curation Engine changes the whole cabin and chassis setting at once, from the lights and sound to the suspension, through four modes: Bentley, Comfort, Sport and Refresh, the last exclusive to the Torcal.
Bentley Torcal price and trims
UK prices start at £173,300 (~$237,400) for the Torcal and £199,300 (~$273,000) for the Torcal S. Sales begin in 2027, with the car sold as a 2028 model year. Prices outside the UK have not been announced.
