Overview

The Range Rover is JLR’s flagship and the car the brand is named after. It is built at Solihull in the West Midlands, the plant that has made every one since 1970, on the MLA-Flex aluminium platform in standard and long-wheelbase bodies. The platform was designed to take combustion, plug-in hybrid and battery power on one line, which is why all three are assembled beside each other rather than in separate facilities.

Powertrains. The volume engine is the P400, a 395 hp turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-six mild hybrid with 550 Nm. The P550e adds a plug-in hybrid system to the same six for 543 hp, 800 Nm, a 38.2 kWh battery and 119 km of WLTP electric range, charging at up to 43 kW on DC. The 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 comes in two states of tune: 523 hp as the P530, and 606 hp as the P615, which is exclusive to the SV cars. Europe also gets the D350, a mild-hybrid diesel of about 345 hp. All use an eight-speed automatic and four-wheel drive.

Trims and bodies. The range runs SE, HSE and Autobiography, with SV, SV Black and SV Ultra above them, in standard and long-wheelbase form. In the United States the standard-wheelbase car starts at $115,450 as a P400, $128,050 as a P550e, $140,150 as a P530 and $221,650 as a P615 SV, all with destination. The long-wheelbase car opens at $122,850, and a P615 SV Black tops the range at $241,050 and $263,050 respectively.

Towing is 3,500 kg with the V8, 3,000 kg as a plug-in hybrid and 2,500 kg as an electric car.

Range Rover Electric

The first battery-electric Range Rover went on sale in September 2026. Two permanent-magnet motors, one per axle, are each rated at 260 kW, for a combined 542 hp (405 kW) and 850 Nm and 0-100 km/h in 4.3 seconds. The battery is a double-stack lithium-ion pack of 344 prismatic cells with 118.5 kWh usable capacity on an 800-volt architecture. On a 350 kW DC charger it goes from 10 to 80 percent in around 22 minutes, and Land Rover quotes roughly 220 km of WLTP range added in ten minutes. Range is up to 372 miles (599 km) WLTP in the UK and up to 333 miles (535 km) EPA in the United States.

The off-road specification carries over from the combustion car rather than being reduced for the battery. Wading depth remains 900 mm. Traction control responds in 50 milliseconds, which Land Rover puts at about a hundred times quicker than a system that has to wait for a combustion engine to change its torque output, and the car will hold a one-pedal descent on slopes of up to 45 degrees on motor braking alone. In the United States it starts at $138,000 before the $2,450 destination charge, or $140,550 delivered, which puts it $400 above a P530 V8 and about $25,000 above the entry P400. In the UK it is £154,070 on the road, and that figure includes VAT and first registration; strip those out and the car is around £128,400. The two markets are therefore roughly 18 percent apart, not the 42 percent the two headline numbers suggest. A First Edition was offered at launch.

SV Ultra

The top of the SV line, and sold by invitation only rather than through the configurator. It is offered with the P615 V8, with the P550e plug-in hybrid, and with a battery-electric drivetrain announced for later in 2026.

The exterior is finished in Titan Silver, a liquid-metal-effect paint, with Satin Platinum Atlas chrome inserts and tri-colour 23-inch wheels. Inside there is Ultrafabrics trim in Orchid White and Cinder Grey, laser mosaic stitching on the seats, a ceramic gear selector and rattan inlays. The audio system uses 21 electrostatic speakers built into the headrests, seat backs, floor and headlining. Pricing is not published.

What is WLTP?

WLTP is the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure, the homologation standard for Europe and much of Asia. It reads roughly 25% lower than CLTC.

The range-rover Range Rover produces up to 395 hp.
What type of car is the range-rover Range Rover?
The range-rover Range Rover is a SUV.
What engines does the Range Rover offer?
Four families on one platform. The P400 is a 395 hp turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-six mild hybrid, the volume engine. The P550e adds a plug-in hybrid system to the same six for 543 hp and 119 km of WLTP electric range. The 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 comes as the 523 hp P530 and, in the SV cars only, the 606 hp P615. A battery-electric version with 542 hp joined them in September 2026. Europe also gets a D350 mild-hybrid diesel of about 345 hp.
How far does the Range Rover Electric go on a charge?
Up to 372 miles (599 km) on the WLTP cycle for the UK car, and up to 333 miles (535 km) on the EPA cycle for the US car. Both figures come from the same 118.5 kWh usable battery; WLTP and EPA are different tests, and EPA is the more conservative of the two, so the gap is a measurement difference rather than a difference between the cars.
How much does the Range Rover cost?
In the United States the standard-wheelbase car runs from $115,450 for a P400 SE to $241,050 for a P615 SV Black, and the long-wheelbase car from $122,850 to $263,050, destination included. The electric version starts at $140,550 on that same basis, $400 above a P530 V8. In the UK it is £154,070 on the road, a figure that includes VAT and first registration.
How much can the Range Rover tow?
3,500 kg with the V8, 3,000 kg as a plug-in hybrid and 2,500 kg as an electric car. Towing is the one area where the battery version is specified below its siblings.
Where is the Range Rover built?
At JLR's Solihull plant in the West Midlands, which has built every Range Rover since 1970. The electric car shares its assembly line with the petrol and plug-in hybrid cars rather than using a separate electric-only facility, because the MLA-Flex platform underneath all of them was designed to take any of the three powertrains.
What is the difference between the standard and long-wheelbase Range Rover?
Rear legroom and seating. The long-wheelbase car is offered as a five-seater or with a third row for seven, and costs roughly $7,400 more like for like in the United States. Both share the same powertrains and the same body above the waist.

The Range Rover Evoque L is a long-wheelbase Evoque built in China by the Chery Jaguar Land Rover joint venture and sold only there. It uses a 2.0-litre Ingenium turbo four with 48-volt mild-hybrid assistance, 245 hp and all-wheel drive through a nine-speed automatic, with R-Dynamic trim and 20-inch wheels standard. It launched at 429,800 yuan; as the joint venture winds down production before the end of 2026, dealers have discounted it to around half that.
