The Racco is BYD’s first kei-class model, a battery-electric microvan aimed squarely at Japan’s tightly regulated kei segment. It was first shown in Tokyo in autumn 2025. Dimensions sit within kei limits at 3,395 mm long, 1,475 mm wide, and 1,800 mm tall, with front-wheel drive.
Two batteries are offered: a 22.4 kWh pack for 210 km on Japan’s WLTC cycle, or a 35.84 kWh pack for 320 km. BYD calls the larger pack the first in a Japanese kei EV to clear 300 km. The Racco went on sale on 28 July 2026 at 2,145,000 yen for the entry 200, 2,398,000 yen for the 300 Plus and 2,497,000 yen for the 300 Premium; a 150,000-yen government subsidy takes the entry car under 2 million yen.
