BYD Atto 2 platform and positioning
The BYD Atto 2 is a subcompact SUV, sold in China as the BYD Yuan Up. It measures 4,310 mm long on a 2,620 mm wheelbase and is built on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0. A plug-in hybrid DM-i version followed for export markets, 20 mm longer at 4,330 mm with a revised front grille, bumper, and tailgate badging.
BYD Atto 2 powertrain
Power in the electric car comes from a single front-mounted motor. Since the 2027 model year, every China-market version uses the same 70 kW (94 hp), 180 Nm motor, and the battery sets the range: a 32 kWh Blade pack gives 301 km CLTC, 45.12 kWh gives 401 km and 51.13 kWh gives 501 km. Earlier Chinese cars also offered a 130 kW (174 hp) motor, which the 2027 update dropped. The Blade battery is BYD’s lithium-iron-phosphate cell design.
The European Atto 2 keeps the 130 kW motor, with 290 Nm and 0-100 km/h in 7.9 seconds, paired with a 45.12 kWh battery for 312 km WLTP.
BYD’s fifth-generation DM-i hybrid system pairs a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, rated by BYD at 43 percent thermal efficiency, with a front electric motor. The Active variant combines a 7.8 kWh Blade LFP battery with a 122 kW (164 hp) system output, while the Boost variant steps up to an 18 kWh battery and 156 kW (209 hp). Electric-only range runs 40 km on Active and 90 km on Boost, with combined range rated at 621 miles (999 km, WLTP) on the Boost.
The DM-i made its debut in Europe, and UK orders opened in June 2026 with deliveries from August.
Inside the BYD Atto 2
The cabin centres on a 12.8in rotating touchscreen running BYD’s DiLink 100 software and an 8.8in driver display. The 2027 Chinese car adds a two-spoke steering wheel and moves the gear selector from the centre console to the steering column. The exterior uses the brand’s Dragon Face styling with a full-width rear light bar and a floating roof treatment.
BYD Atto 2 price and trims
Chinese list prices for the 2027 electric car run from 74,800 yuan (~$11,100) for the 301 km version to 104,800 yuan (~$15,600) for the top 501 km trim, across five versions. UK pricing for the DM-i runs from £26,995 (~$37,000) for the Active to £29,995 (~$41,100) for the Boost, an entry point into BYD’s plug-in hybrid range alongside the larger Seal U DM-i and Sealion 5 DM-i.
