Honda Civic Type R platform and positioning
The Honda Civic Type R is the performance flagship of the Civic range, a front-wheel-drive hatchback with a turbocharged 2.0-litre K20C four-cylinder and a six-speed manual as its only gearbox. It makes 315 hp and 310 lb-ft (420 Nm). The car measures 4,606 mm (181.3 in) long, 1,890 mm (74.4 in) wide and 1,407 mm (55.4 in) high.
Honda Civic Type R design
The 2027 model year is a facelift of the current car. The front bumper has a larger grille opening for engine cooling, and a deeper splitter adds front downforce. A new engine cover nods to early Japanese-market Type Rs, and Meteorite Gray Metallic joins the palette. Honda also retuned the dampers for the +R drive mode, sped up the rev-matching on downshifts and added a yoke spring to the brake pedal for a more direct feel.

The sports bucket seats are heated for the first time, with three temperature settings. Ultrasuede now covers parts of the dash and upper door panels, and the aluminium shift knob and console trim are finished in a darker grey. The 9-inch touchscreen gains Google built-in, including Google Maps and the Gemini assistant.
Honda Civic Type R price and trims
The 2027 Civic Type R starts at $49,990 including a $1,295 destination charge, before tax. Meteorite Gray Metallic is the one free colour; white, blue and the lighter gray add $455. In Canada it starts at C$54,850 (~$40,000). US dealers receive the car from October 2026. Honda Australia, which sells the current car, has not confirmed when the updated car will arrive, and Europe will not get it at all.
