Honda CR-V platform and positioning
The Honda CR-V is Honda’s compact SUV, sold in its sixth generation in the US and the UK. It is built in North America at the East Liberty plant in Ohio, the Indiana plant and the Alliston plant in Canada. Honda has announced no future CR-V model changes, and trade reports of a 2027 redesign differ on the start of production.
Honda CR-V powertrain
US cars take a 1.5-litre turbo making 190 hp and 179 lb-ft (243 Nm), or a hybrid that pairs a 2.0-litre Atkinson-cycle engine with two electric motors for 204 hp combined and 247 lb-ft (335 Nm) of torque. Both are CVT cars. The EPA rates the front-drive LX at 30 mpg combined (7.8 l/100 km) and the front-drive Sport Hybrid at 40 (5.9 l/100 km). The US also had a 2026 CR-V e:FCEV, a hydrogen fuel-cell car with 174 hp, a 17.7 kWh plug-in battery, 29 miles of electric range and a 270-mile EPA total range, sold for lease only from $50,000 before destination.
UK cars are full hybrid or plug-in hybrid only. The e:HEV full hybrid is all-wheel drive, quotes a 144 PS engine and a 184 PS drive motor, and does 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 9.3 seconds. The e:PHEV adds a 17.7 kWh battery for 78 km (48 miles) of WLTP electric range, and charges from empty in about 2.5 hours on a 6.8 kW AC supply.
Inside the Honda CR-V
The UK plug-in carries 617 litres of boot space with the rear seats up and 1,100 litres folded to the window line. Honda’s latest UK update added an Elegance Tech grade with heated leather, adaptive dampers and a Bose audio system.
Honda CR-V price and trims
US prices run from $31,520 to $42,950 before destination. The turbo is sold as LX, EX and EX-L, and the hybrid as Sport Hybrid, Sport-L Hybrid, TrailSport Hybrid and Sport Touring Hybrid, with all-wheel drive standard on the last two. The UK range starts at £47,795 (~$65,500) for the e:PHEV Elegance Tech and £48,075 (~$65,900) for the e:HEV Elegance, both on-the-road prices, so they sit on a different basis from the US figures.
