The Hongqi G919 is Hongqi’s first body-on-frame off-road SUV, built to rival the Mercedes-Benz G-Class in layout while running a fully electrified drivetrain. It measures 5,135 mm long on a 2,900 mm wheelbase, with a body-on-frame chassis rather than the unibody construction used on Hongqi’s other SUVs.
Power comes from a range-extended EV (EREV) system: a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine acts purely as a generator, feeding four independent electric motors, one per wheel, for a combined 620 kW (831 hp) and 1,320 Nm of torque. Hongqi quotes 280 km of CLTC electric-only range before the engine needs to run, and 1,350 km of combined range with a full tank and charge. The four-motor layout allows software-controlled torque vectoring to each wheel independently, on top of three mechanical locking differentials across the front, rear and centre axles.
Off-road hardware includes air suspension, all-terrain tyres, recovery hooks, and a roof-mounted lidar unit alongside roof rails built to carry equipment. Hongqi has not yet detailed the cabin or released full interior specifications.
Hongqi opened pre-sales in China on 22 September 2026 with three versions: the Tuojing at 359,800 yuan (~$53,500), the Yujing at 399,800 yuan (~$59,400) and a Limited Edition at 439,800 yuan (~$65,300), all with the four-motor drivetrain. Final prices are due at the full launch. Hongqi has not confirmed any export markets.
