The Hyundai Mufasa is a compact SUV built by the Beijing Hyundai joint venture, launched in China in June 2023 as the replacement for the long-running ix35. It measures 4,475 mm long, 1,850 mm wide and 1,665 mm tall on a 2,680 mm wheelbase, and is built on a shortened version of the Tucson NX4 platform, positioned below the Tucson in Hyundai’s China SUV lineup. Sales extended to Taiwan in 2025.
The Mufasa is offered with a single powertrain: a naturally aspirated 2.0-litre four-cylinder producing 161 hp and 193 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. It comes in three trims for the 2026 model year - Leading, Deluxe and Luxury - all sharing the same drivetrain.
Design follows Hyundai’s “Sensuous Sportiness” language, with single-piece vertical headlamps that break from the split-headlamp trend used elsewhere in the brand’s lineup. For 2026, the cabin gains a fully digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch display replacing the previous 4-inch unit, and four driving modes with three off-road terrain settings.
Chinese pricing for the 2026 model year runs from ¥121,800 (~$18,100) for the Leading to ¥142,800 (~$21,200) for the Luxury.
