Jetour T2 platform and positioning
The T2 is the boxy SUV at the centre of Jetour’s range, and Jetour is part of the Chery group. It went on sale in China in September 2023 as the Jietu Lvxingzhe, or Traveller, and is sold as the T2 in most export markets, including South Africa, the Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia. It sits on Jetour’s Kunlun unibody architecture rather than a separate ladder frame, and was designed under former Porsche designer Hakan Saracoğlu. Jetour says the T2 passed 500,000 global sales in 33 months, and in South Africa it became the first Chinese car to win the South African Car of the Year award.
Jetour T2 design
The updated Traveller 7 launched in China on 14 October 2026. It keeps the square body and adds round headlights joined by a light bar across the grille. It is 4,827 mm long, 2,006 mm wide and 1,875 mm tall on a 2,800 mm wheelbase; Jetour South Africa lists the export T2 at 4,785 mm long and 1,880 mm tall on the same wheelbase. Ground clearance is 220 mm, with approach and departure angles of 27 and 30 degrees and a wading depth of 700 mm.
Jetour T2 powertrain
The petrol versions use a 1.5-litre turbo with 135 kW (181 hp) and 290 Nm, or a 2.0-litre turbo with 187 kW (251 hp) and 390 Nm, through a seven-speed wet dual-clutch or an eight-speed automatic depending on version. The 2.0-litre cars get Jetour’s XWD all-wheel drive, built around a BorgWarner torque manager and a limited-slip locking differential. The C-DM plug-in hybrid pairs a 115 kW 1.5-litre turbo with an electric motor and drives the front wheels only. Its CATL battery comes in two sizes, 26.61 kWh or 45.12 kWh, for 140 to 251 km of electric range and 1,400 km combined on the CLTC cycle. Jetour has not published which version takes which pack, so the table shows the larger one.
Inside the Jetour T2
The cabin has a 15.6-inch central touchscreen on a Snapdragon 8255 chip and a 10.25-inch digital instrument display, with a 23-speaker sound system and double-layered acoustic glass. Higher versions add front seats with ventilation, heating and eight-point pneumatic massage. Driver assistance is Jetour’s Falcon 500 system, running on a Horizon Journey 6M chip with 128 TOPS, and some C-DM versions carry Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 5.
