Overview

The Kia EV3 is a compact electric SUV built on the 400 V version of Hyundai Motor Group’s E-GMP architecture, and it is the entry point to Kia’s electric range. It measures 4,300 mm long on a 2,680 mm wheelbase, with 460 litres of boot space behind the rear seats and a 25-litre compartment under the bonnet. Length and height vary slightly by trim, up to 4,310 mm and 1,570 mm on cars with the larger wheels and roof rails.

North American sales opened for the 2027 model year in seven configurations across five trim names. Front-wheel-drive cars use a single 201 hp motor producing 209 lb-ft (283 Nm) of torque; adding a second motor for all-wheel drive raises output to 261 hp and 284 lb-ft (385 Nm), and the GT at the top of the range makes 288 hp and 345 lb-ft (468 Nm).

Range follows the battery and the number of motors rather than the position in the price list. The Light uses a 58.3 kWh pack for an EPA-estimated 221 miles (356 km), and every other trim moves to an 81.4 kWh pack. On front-wheel drive that pack returns 321 miles (517 km), the highest figure in the lineup and available on the Wind FWD from $34,990. The four all-wheel-drive configurations carry the same battery but are rated at 280 miles (451 km), so the fastest EV3 is not the longest-legged one.

Every North American EV3 has a NACS charging port built in rather than added by adapter, giving direct access to Tesla’s Supercharger network alongside CCS sites via an adapter. A 10 to 80 percent charge takes about 29 minutes on the Light and about 31 minutes on the larger pack using a 350 kW charger. A battery heater is standard across the range and a heat pump is available on all-wheel-drive cars. Prices run from $29,890 for the Light FWD to $45,890 for the GT, in both cases before the $1,495 destination charge.
