The second-generation MG ZS is a compact SUV, 4,430 mm long on a 2,610 mm wheelbase, sold mainly as the Hybrid+, MG’s name for a self-charging hybrid. In the UK it costs from 21,495 pounds for the petrol-only 1.5 SE and from 23,995 pounds for the Hybrid+ SE. Both figures rose by 1,000 pounds at the end of September 2026, when MG added a 360-degree camera, rear parking sensors and wireless phone charging to the SE, and a panoramic sunroof and powered tailgate to the top Trophy trim.
The Hybrid+ pairs a 1.5-litre Atkinson-cycle petrol engine with an electric motor through a 3-speed automatic gearbox, for a combined 193 hp (196 PS) and 465 Nm. MG quotes 0-100 km/h in 8.7 seconds and 5.1 l/100 km (55.4 mpg) on the WLTP combined cycle. Its 1.83 kWh battery, 0.92 kWh of it usable, is charged only by the engine and regenerative braking, never from a plug.
Below it sits a simpler 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol of 113 hp (115 PS) with a 5-speed manual and no electrification, which takes 12.5 seconds to 100 km/h and returns 6.5 l/100 km. In the UK it comes only in SE trim, and Trophy is reserved for the Hybrid+. Boot space is 443 litres with the seats up and 1,457 litres folded. The battery-electric ZS EV that once sat alongside the petrol and hybrid models has been discontinued, replaced in MG’s European lineup by the separate MGS5 EV. The UK warranty is seven years or 80,000 miles.
Spain is the car’s other large European market, where it is sold in Standard, Comfort and Luxury trims. The MY26.5 update reached Spanish showrooms in October 2026 with a quieter Hybrid+ and the same equipment additions, advertised from 14,990 euros for the petrol and 20,340 euros for the Hybrid+, both after MG’s own incentives.
