The Omoda 7 is the mid-size SUV in Chery’s export-only Omoda range, sitting between the 5 and the three-row 9. It uses the T1X platform, a stretched version of the structure under the smaller Omoda 5, and measures 4,660 mm long on a 2,720 mm wheelbase. It was shown in Wuhu in April 2024 and reached Europe in February 2026, with UK deliveries starting in January 2026.
Petrol and plug-in hybrid
Two powertrains sell side by side in the UK. The 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol drives the front wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, making 145 hp (147 PS) and 275 Nm, and takes 10.4 seconds to reach 62 mph. It is offered only in the entry Knight trim, from GBP 29,915 (~$41,000).
The plug-in hybrid, badged SHS-P, pairs a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine with two electric motors and an 18.3 kWh battery for 201 hp (204 PS) and 365 Nm, cutting the 0-62 mph time to 8.4 seconds. Omoda claims 56 miles (90 km) of WLTP electric range and about 745 miles in total, with CO2 emissions of 23 g/km. It starts at around GBP 32,000 (~$43,800) in Knight trim and runs to GBP 35,505 (~$48,600) for Noble Tech.
Interior and equipment
Knight cars already carry 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, a heated steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, wireless charging and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Noble adds 20-inch wheels, a Sony audio system, a panoramic glass roof, ventilated front seats and ambient lighting. Cabin space is one of the car’s clearer arguments: boot volume is 639 litres in the petrol and 590 litres in the plug-in hybrid, rising to 1,417 litres with the rear bench folded.
Chery builds the car in Wuhu, Anhui, and sells it in China under its own badge as the Tiggo 7L. In export markets it is the Omoda brand’s volume model, sharing its SHS hybrid hardware with the Jaecoo cars sold through the same dealer network.
