The Yaris Cross is Toyota’s subcompact hybrid SUV, built on the TNGA GA-B platform at Toyota’s Onnaing plant in France alongside the Japan-built XP210 generation. It measures 4,180 mm long on a 2,560 mm wheelbase and has sold in Europe, Japan, Australia and several other markets since 2021. A separate, larger version built in Indonesia on Daihatsu’s DNGA-B platform serves Southeast Asia and Latin America under the same name.
Toyota refreshed the European car for 2026 with sharper styling and a wider hybrid range. The entry Hybrid 116 pairs a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated three-cylinder engine with an electric motor for 116 hp and 141 Nm, sold front-wheel drive only. The Hybrid 130 raises output to 130 hp and 185 Nm and can be paired with Toyota’s AWD-i all-wheel-drive system, which uses a separate rear electric motor rather than a mechanical link. Both hybrids use a CVT.
The lineup is offered across Mid, Mid+, High and GR Sport grades, with the GR Sport using the Hybrid 130 powertrain exclusively alongside a unique front bumper, 18-inch two-tone wheels and retuned suspension. Toyota Safety Sense driver assistance and Toyota Smart Connect multimedia with cloud navigation are standard across the range.
The Yaris Cross has become one of the best-selling models in southern Europe, ranking in the top 10 in both Italy and Spain through mid-2026. UK prices start from £27,245 for the entry Hybrid 116 trim.
