The Wuling Hongguang Mini EV is a four-seat micro city car built by SAIC-GM-Wuling. Since its 2020 launch it has been one of China’s best-selling electric vehicles, with cumulative sales passing 1.7 million units by 2025. The 2026 generation, launched in February 2026, adds revised dimensions and a five-door option alongside the original three-door layout.
The car uses a single rear motor producing between 20 and 40 hp depending on version, driving the rear wheels. Three lithium-ion battery options are offered: 9.2 kWh for 120 km, 13.8 kWh for 215 km, and 26 kWh for 280 km, all on the CLTC cycle. The focus is short urban trips rather than long-distance driving.
Its appeal rests on simplicity and price. The cabin seats four, parking is easy thanks to a footprint of just over three metres, and running costs are minimal. Higher trims add features such as a touchscreen and more comprehensive equipment.
Pricing starts from ¥35,800, keeping it among the most affordable new cars on sale in China.
