Audi has revealed the fifth-generation A6 allroad, the jacked-up, soft-road version of the new A6 Avant on the C9 platform. Orders open in Germany on 18 June, with deliveries scheduled for the autumn.
Raised on air
The allroad treatment is mostly about the chassis. Adaptive air suspension is standard and lifts ground clearance by 34 mm to 179 mm. Wheels span 19 to 21 inches, and quattro ultra all-wheel drive is fitted to both engines. Rear-wheel steering is standard on the plug-in hybrid and an option on the diesel.
The body stretches to 5,016 mm long, 1,986 mm wide and 1,508 mm tall on a 2,923 mm wheelbase, noticeably wider and taller than the regular A6 Avant at 4,999 by 1,875 by 1,472 mm.
Two electrified engines
The e-hybrid plug-in pairs a 2.0-litre TFSI four-cylinder (252 hp) with a 143 hp electric motor for a combined 367 hp and 500 Nm. Its 25.9 kWh battery is good for 95 km of electric range on the WLTP cycle, and the car reaches 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds.
The alternative is a 3.0-litre V6 TDI diesel rated at 299 hp, supported by three 48-volt electric motors as a mild-hybrid system. It is fractionally quicker off the line at 5.4 seconds.
Inside and luggage
The cabin carries over the new A6โs three-screen layout: an 11.9-inch digital cluster, a 14.5-inch central touchscreen, and a 10.9-inch passenger display, under a panoramic roof. Boot space runs from 466 to 1,497 litres in the diesel, and 404 to 1,423 litres in the plug-in hybrid, where the battery eats into capacity.
Price
German pricing starts at 77,250 euros.
