BYD has shown the European Atto 8 at the Paris motor show: a 5,040 mm seven-seat electric SUV, and the first BYD sold in Europe with the second-generation Blade Battery and FLASH charging. Sales start at BYD dealers in the first quarter of 2027. BYD has not announced prices.
Two versions, one 115 kWh battery
Both European versions use the same 115 kWh pack. The rear-drive Design has a single motor on the rear axle and gives up some acceleration for range, according to BYD’s WLTP figures.
| Version | Drive | Power (kW) | 0-100 km/h (s) | Range (km, WLTP) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Design RWD | Rear | 340 (462 PS) | 8.0 | 653 |
| Excellence AWD | All-wheel | 570 (775 PS) | 4.6 | 602 |
The Atto 8 is the export name of the Tang L that BYD sells in China, where our model page lists a 100.5 kWh pack and CLTC ranges. The European car’s bigger battery and its WLTP ratings are a different set of numbers, so the two should not be read against each other.
What FLASH charging promises
BYD rates the Atto 8 at 10 to 70 percent in 5 minutes and 10 to 97 percent in 9 minutes. Both figures need a compatible FLASH charger, BYD’s own high-power charging hardware, and an ordinary public charger will not deliver them. At temperatures down to -30 °C, BYD quotes 12 minutes for 20 to 97 percent.
The network is the open question. BYD plans 3,000 FLASH stations in Europe by the end of 2027, which is after the car’s first-quarter 2027 sales start. Until a station is near the buyer, the headline times stay a spec-sheet number.
Inside
Both versions come with a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, a head-up display, and heated, ventilated and massaging front seats. The outer second-row seats get the same comfort features, and the third row has adjustable headrests.
