Geely has unveiled the Thunder 16-in-1 Intelligent E-Drive, a new electric drive unit that combines 16 systems into a single compact module. The company says the unit reaches 93.8% efficiency, among the best figures reported for a production electric drive unit.

Geely’s engineers folded 12 hardware components - the electric motor, inverter, reducer, onboard charger, DC/DC converter and several control units among them - together with 4 software systems that manage energy, charging, drive and powertrain health. Combining them into one module cut the part count by more than 180, brought the unit’s weight down to 75 kg, and reduced high-voltage wiring volume by 30% and low-voltage wiring by 15%.
First application
The new drive unit has already reached production, debuting on the Galaxy TT Ultra, the performance version of Geely’s recently revealed Galaxy TT electric sedan, which opened pre-sales on July 21, 2026. The Ultra rides on an 800V architecture with two motors making a combined 578 hp, reaching 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds. It draws from a 75.2 kWh CATL battery for a CLTC range of 650 km.
Geely says a Galaxy TT Ultra fitted with the new unit has recorded energy consumption as low as 8.2 kWh/100 km in a controlled test, with a CLTC-rated figure of 10.7 kWh/100 km. The company is positioning both numbers as a new efficiency benchmark for its future electric models.
