Peugeot’s e-T16 concept could reach production in 2027, according to the brand’s CEO. Alain Favey told Autocar that the electric hyper-hatch shown at the Paris motor show is technically feasible and could be built as it stands. He did not say it will be: Peugeot has made no production decision and has not discussed a price.
What Favey said
“We can make this car next year. Let’s see,” Favey said. He pointed to the car’s platform as the reason: the e-T16 is based on Stellantis’s STLA One architecture, and Favey says it carries a lot of elements from the new e-208. He added that Peugeot Sport’s part in the development shows the figures are not there only for show.
Those figures are an 805 hp three-motor powertrain, 0-62 mph in 2.5 seconds, and an 85 kWh battery good for up to 248 miles of WLTP range, with a 10-80% charge in under 15 minutes. The model page has the full specification, including the Nürburgring cooling claim and the 205 T16 design references.
The e-208 link
Peugeot describes the e-T16 as the ultimate version of the next e-208, previewing its light signature and its cockpit. The hot version of the current car is the e-208 GTi. Autocar says a production e-T16 would likely be a low-volume halo car. Favey’s remarks on strategy point the same way: he said Peugeot has no plan to go down in price and is aiming for 1.5 million sales a year, up from 1.1 million, with more design and more value.
The RCZ is further away
Favey treated the e-T16 as a separate case from the RCZ Vision, a coupé concept Peugeot also wants to build. Autocar reports that the RCZ’s low proportions do not work on Peugeot’s current EV platforms and depend on thin, energy-dense solid-state batteries that are not yet on the market. Favey said the car is needed even if it takes five or six years, and called the e-T16 a completely different story.
