Jeep will bring back the Renegade with a new generation by 2030. Xavier Peugeot, Head of Jeep Brand Europe, announced it at the Paris Motor Show as part of a European plan that grows the range to up to six models. More than 610,000 Renegades have been sold in Europe since the first car launched in 2014. Jeep has not published a design, platform or engine for the successor.
What Autocar adds on the platform
Autocar, speaking to Peugeot in Paris, reports that the new Renegade will use STLA One, the platform under the next Peugeot 208, and will sit between the Avenger (4.1 m) and the Compass (4.5 m). Jeep’s own release says only that the next generation will reinforce its position in one of Europe’s key SUV segments and bring Jeep to a broader audience.
Six models across three segments
Jeep is building out its B-, C- and D-SUV line-up:
- B-SUV: the Avenger, with nearly 300,000 sold since launch.
- C-SUV: the new Compass, and the Renegade by 2030.
- D-SUV: the Recon marks Jeep’s return to the segment, followed by one more new model in 2028. Autocar reports the Recon reaches Europe next year, in left-hand drive only, so it will not be sold in the UK.
Every model will have a 4x4 version, and the range will mix powertrains. Jeep expects the line-up to cover around 90% of the European SUV market by 2030. Autocar quotes Peugeot putting today’s coverage at around 50%.
What comes after 2030
The release also looks past the plan. Jeep says it is exploring compact, electrified vehicles drawing on models such as the Willys, a project we cover in Jeep weighs a Willys-inspired small EV after 2030.
