The BYD Qin Max is a B-segment sedan that went on sale in China on 13 August 2026, becoming the third and largest member of the Qin family after the Qin Plus and the Qin L. It measures 4,866 mm long, 1,880 mm wide and 1,495 mm tall on a 2,820 mm wheelbase, and BYD sells it in nine versions priced from ¥99,900 to ¥143,900 ($14,700 to $21,200). Both a DM-i plug-in hybrid and a pure-electric version are offered, as with every other car in the Qin range.
The DM-i cars pair a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine making 74 kW with a 175 kW drive motor, driving the front wheels. Two electric ranges are offered on China’s CLTC cycle: 230 km on the two cheaper versions and 320 km on the two dearer ones. BYD quotes 2,370 km of combined range on a full tank and a full charge, and fuel consumption of 2.59 l/100 km on the NEDC cycle once the battery is depleted. The EV versions are rear-wheel drive and come with a single motor in one of two outputs, 120 kW for 530 km of CLTC range or 240 kW for 630 km. The more powerful car reaches 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds.
The EV runs BYD’s second-generation Blade battery, which supports the company’s flash-charging system. BYD quotes 10 to 70 percent in five minutes and 10 to 97 percent in nine minutes, and includes a year of free flash charging with the car. Battery capacity has not been published for any version. Driver assistance is God’s Eye B, BYD’s LiDAR-equipped system, and the cabin runs DiLink 150 with an AR head-up display and DiSus-C damping control.
Storage was a stated design priority: the EV has 27 stowage points, a 115-litre front boot and a 523-litre rear boot that opens out to 1,450 litres with the seats folded. The Qin Max is sold through BYD’s Dynasty dealer network, which is the main thing separating it from the closely related Seal 06 in the parallel Ocean network.
