Overview

The Chevrolet Trax is a subcompact SUV that GM completely redesigned for the 2024 model year, sitting out the 2023 model year in the US between generations. It shares GM’s VSS-F small-vehicle architecture with the Chevrolet Trailblazer, and every current Trax comes from GM Korea’s Changwon plant, which builds it largely for export to North America alongside its share of the smaller domestic market.

Unlike the Trailblazer, the Trax runs a single powertrain across its whole lineup: a turbocharged 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine making 137 hp and 220 Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive only. There is no all-wheel-drive option and no larger engine - the Trailblazer, built at GM Korea’s other plant in Bupyeong, covers that end of the range instead.

The redesign brought a longer wheelbase and more interior space than the outgoing model, along with an 11-inch touchscreen and an 8-inch digital gauge cluster standard across the lineup. Five trims - LS, 1RS, LT, 2RS and Activ - differ mainly in styling and equipment rather than mechanicals, with the Activ adding cladding and a more rugged look.

US pricing for 2026 starts at $21,700 for the base LS, rising to $23,200 for the 1RS or LT, and $25,400 for the 2RS or Activ.
