Formula S platform and positioning
The Formula S is the first sedan from FangChengBao, the BYD brand whose earlier cars are the body-on-frame Bao off-roaders and the Tai crossovers such as the Tai 7. It went on sale in China on 16 September 2026 alongside the Formula S GT, a shooting-brake version with a longer roof and a tailgate. Both ride on a 2,960 mm wheelbase; the sedan is 5,060 mm long and the GT 5,025 mm.
Formula S powertrain and range
Both bodies are electric only and use BYD’s second-generation Blade battery. The sedan has a 76.7 kWh or a 92.1 kWh pack. The rear-drive car with the smaller battery makes 245 kW (329 hp) and covers 730 km on the CLTC cycle. The long-range rear-drive car pairs the larger battery with 300 kW (402 hp) for 900 km, the longest range in the line-up. The dual-motor car has 490 kW (657 hp) and 750 km. The GT comes only with the larger battery: 850 km with rear drive, 730 km with all-wheel drive. Flash charging is standard on every version, rated by BYD at 10 to 70 per cent in 5 minutes and 10 to 97 per cent in 9 minutes.
Formula S driver assistance and chassis
The entry car has BYD’s DiSus-C adaptive damping. Every other version is offered with either DiSus-A dual-chamber air suspension or DiSus-M magnetorheological dampers, at the same price; the Formula S is the first car with DiSus-M. Driver assistance is BYD’s God’s Eye B, which includes a LiDAR sensor and supports navigation assistance in town and on the motorway plus automated parking.
Formula S price and trims
The sedan comes in five versions from 189,900 to 229,900 yuan ($28,200 to $34,200). The GT comes in four, from 219,900 yuan ($32,700) with rear drive to 239,900 yuan ($35,600) with all-wheel drive. The count of versions comes from the suspension choice: each drivetrain above the entry sedan is sold with DiSus-A or DiSus-M.
