Jetta M6 platform and positioning
The M6 is the first electric vehicle from Jetta, FAW-Volkswagen’s budget sub-brand for China, built on a new platform developed jointly with Chinese partners rather than the older Volkswagen architecture the rest of the Jetta lineup uses. It made its public debut at the Chengdu Motor Show on 21 August 2026 with a refundable 66-yuan ($9) deposit, then opened formal pre-sales on 28 September 2026 with trim-level pricing; a full market launch is expected in mid-October 2026.
Jetta M6 design and dimensions
The sedan is close in size to a Volkswagen Passat: 4,806 mm long, 1,895 mm wide, 1,500 mm tall, on a 2,820 mm wheelbase. It rides on 17- or 18-inch wheels and adds a glass roof, semi-hidden door handles, active shutters in the front bumper, and a new Jetta emblem, styling cues that mark a step up from the brand’s existing combustion models.
Jetta M6 powertrain and range
Power comes from a single front-mounted electric motor offered in two states of tune; there is no all-wheel-drive option. The entry 465 Pro uses a 154 hp motor for 465 km of CLTC range, while the 555 Max and 555 Ultra step up to a 197 hp motor and 555 km. Cells come from CALB, with the pack assembled by FAW-Volkswagen; the brand has not disclosed battery capacity in kWh.
Inside the Jetta M6
The cabin gets a digital instrument cluster and a central tablet-style touchscreen, a two-spoke steering wheel, ambient lighting, wireless phone charging and a panoramic glass roof. The front seats fold flat and combine with the rear bench into what Jetta calls a “bed mode.”
Jetta M6 price and launch
FAW-Volkswagen opened pre-sales on 28 September 2026 with the 465 Pro at 80,800 yuan ($11,990), the 555 Max at 90,800 yuan (~$13,500) and the 555 Ultra at 99,800 yuan (~$14,800), all below the 100,000-yuan mark and aimed at Chinese rivals from BYD, Geely, Changan and Leapmotor rather than pricier European EVs. Final pricing is due at the full market launch, expected in mid-October 2026. The M6 signals FAW-Volkswagen’s push to extend electrification down to its lowest-priced brand, following the mainstream Volkswagen ID. family’s expansion into entry-level models in China.
