Mazda CX-5 platform and positioning
The Mazda CX-5 is a compact SUV, and the third generation is the car Mazda calls its best-selling vehicle in the US. Mazda counts more than five million CX-5 sales across two generations since 2012, and over 103,000 in the UK, where it remains the brand’s best seller.
Mazda CX-5 powertrain
US cars carry the 2.5-litre Skyactiv-G four-cylinder with 187 hp and 186 lb-ft (252 Nm), a six-speed automatic and standard i-Activ all-wheel drive. UK cars get a 2.5-litre e-Skyactiv G with 24V Mazda M Hybrid mild-hybrid assistance and cylinder deactivation, tuned to 141 PS (139 hp) and 238 Nm, and the front-drive version reaches 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 10.5 seconds.
