The Nissan NX7 is a compact SUV for China, the fourth model in the N-series that Dongfeng Nissan develops locally. Only official design images have been released - dimensions, interior and powertrain specifications are undisclosed. Chinese sales are planned before the end of 2026.

Overview

The NX7 is a compact SUV built for China by Dongfeng Nissan, the joint venture that also develops the N6 and N7 sedans and the larger NX8. It is the fourth car in that locally developed N-series, and slots below the NX8 in the range. Dongfeng Nissan released the first official images in August 2026.

The production car appears to draw on the Nissan Urban concept, taking its split headlights, smooth nose and floating roofline. A lidar unit sits above the windscreen, feeding an extended driver-assistance package. The door handles are semi-flush, which sets the NX7 apart from the rest of the N-series - the other cars use fully retracting handles. At the rear, a full-width light bar with segmented internal graphics is paired with an illuminated Nissan badge.

Everything else is still undisclosed. Nissan has published no dimensions, no interior images and no technical specifications. The Urban concept was presented as a plug-in hybrid, so a range-extended version is expected, and Chinese media have reported a battery-electric version that Nissan has not confirmed. The NX8 sibling runs an 800V architecture in both electric and range-extended form, which would be the obvious hardware to share.

Chinese sales are planned before the end of 2026. Nissan has said it intends to expand the China-developed N-series into export markets, though it has not named the NX7 as one of the cars or given a market or date.

Is the Nissan NX7 electric or a hybrid?
Not confirmed. The Nissan Urban concept the NX7 appears to be based on was presented as a plug-in hybrid, and its NX8 sibling is sold as both a range-extender and a full EV, so a range-extended version is widely expected. Chinese media also report a battery-electric version, which Nissan has not confirmed.

The NX7 is the smaller of the two and sits below the NX8 in the range. It also uses semi-flush door handles, where the rest of the N-series has fully retracting ones.
Will the Nissan NX7 be sold outside China?
Possibly. The NX7 is developed in China for China, with sales planned before the end of 2026, but Nissan has confirmed that it intends to take the N-series to export markets. No specific country or date has been named for the NX7.
