Overview

Toyota Hilux platform and positioning

The ninth-generation Hilux had its world premiere in Bangkok on November 10, 2025, and in Thailand it is sold as the Hilux Travo. Europe gets it in 2026 as a double cab only, 5,320 mm long on a 3,085 mm wheelbase, with two powertrains: a diesel mild hybrid and the first battery-electric Hilux. This page covers the European range; Asian markets have their own engine and cab line-ups.

Toyota Hilux powertrain

The Diesel 48V pairs the 2.8-litre turbodiesel with a 48-volt lithium-ion battery and motor-generator. It makes 204 PS (150 kW) at 3,400 rpm and 500 Nm between 1,600 and 2,800 rpm, drives through an automatic gearbox and has four-wheel drive with high and low ranges. Toyota quotes 9.7-10.0 l/100 km on the WLTP cycle, a braked towing capacity of 3,500 kg and a payload of more than 1,000 kg.

The electric Hilux uses an 80 kW motor at the front and a 128 kW motor at the rear for a system output of 144 kW (193 hp) and permanent all-wheel drive. Its 59.2 kWh battery gives up to 257 km on the WLTP combined cycle and up to 380 km in city driving. DC charging from 10 to 80% takes 30 minutes at 125 kW, and a 10 kW AC charger fills it from 10 to 100% in about 6.5 hours. It tows up to 1,600 kg and carries 710-715 kg.

Inside the Toyota Hilux

Most grades get a 12.3-inch Toyota Smart Connect touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument display; the entry grade has a 9-inch screen and a 7-inch display. Third-generation Toyota Safety Sense is standard, and Lane Tracing Assist appears on a Hilux for the first time.
