Leapmotor is preparing a new budget electric car for two markets at once: a five-door hatchback that launches in China as the A05, with a version for Europe badged B03. The export car is slightly more compact than the Chinese model, at 4,175 mm long and 1,790 mm wide against 4,200 mm and 1,800 mm, though both share a 2,605 mm wheelbase.
In China, the A05 is offered with two front-wheel-drive powertrains: a 95 hp motor with a 39.8 kWh battery for up to 405 km of CLTC range, and a 122 hp motor with a 53 kWh battery reaching up to 510 km CLTC. Higher trims add lidar. A cosmetic A05S variant is also offered, with a pink roof, pink mirror housings and 17-inch “rose gold” wheels.
Inside, the A05 pairs an 8.88-inch instrument display with a 14.6-inch central touchscreen. Boot space is 474 litres, with an additional 91 litres of storage under the front hood.
Leapmotor is already taking blind orders for the A05 in China, with official pricing to follow. Specifications for the European B03 haven’t been disclosed yet.
