Mercedes-Benz sales board member Mathias Geisen says the 800-volt electric CLA and GLC currently have a lead time of around six months, according to the Mercedes fan blog JESMB as reported by Electrive. That puts a custom-configured car ordered today in April 2027. Mercedes said earlier this month that its electric CLA, GLC, GLB and GLA were sold out in Europe for the rest of 2026.

What registrations show

Mercedes does not publish model-level sales for either car. Market researcher Dataforce, in an analysis for Handelsblatt, counts more than 71,000 electric CLA registrations in Europe since the car launched in September 2025, about 5,400 a month. The combustion-only CLA it replaced averaged around 3,500 a month in Europe between 2021 and 2024.

The electric GLC reached nearly 7,400 European registrations in September alone. The combustion GLC peaked at 6,500 a month, in its best year, 2025. In Germany, the Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt’s September figures put both cars in the top 10 new electric registrations, with more than 2,000 each.

Supply behind the wait

Accumotive, the Mercedes battery subsidiary in Kamenz, Saxony, has run six days a week in three shifts since June to keep traction batteries coming. Mercedes says its Bremen, Rastatt and Kecskemét car plants are also on three shifts. The electric GLC, which is built at Bremen, had a slow start: media reports cited a shortage of critical components that held early deliveries down. Electrive reports that GLC and CLA output, the CLA being built at Rastatt, is now at a good level.

A six-month lead time describes configured orders only. Mercedes has not said how many cars sit in its order books.
