UKProduction of the Range Rover Evoque and Velar will end by the end of 2027, and neither will get a direct replacement. Martin Limpert, managing director of the Range Rover brand, confirmed to Autocar that no third-generation Evoque or second-generation Velar is in development, according to CarExpert’s report of the interview.
What takes over the entry slot
The Range Rover GT becomes the cheapest way into the family. Autocar understands the electric GT launches first at around £100,000 (~$137,000) in the UK, with a hybrid following at around £90,000 (~$123,300). These are estimates, not confirmed prices. On Autocar’s numbers, the hybrid would sit about £13,000 (~$17,800) above the base Range Rover Sport. The Evoque and Velar are currently the cheapest cars in the Range Rover lineup by a wide margin, so retiring them lifts the brand’s floor. That fits the reported aim of the House of Brands strategy, which splits Land Rover into three separate marques: Defender, Discovery and Range Rover. Range Rover is pitching the GT as its most car-like model yet.
Where the volume end goes
Under the same split, Defender and Discovery will cover the volume end of the market the Evoque and Velar serve today. The Defender Sport, due to be unveiled soon, is expected to become the entry model. It is reported to come with hybrid and electric drivetrains, and to act as a replacement of sorts for the Discovery Sport, which ceases production in December 2026.
The reports do not say whether the Evoque and Velar stay on sale in every market until the last build date.
