JLR's flagship luxury SUV, built at Solihull on the MLA-Flex platform in standard and long-wheelbase bodies. One platform takes all four powertrains: a 395 hp inline-six petrol, a 543 hp plug-in hybrid, a twin-turbo V8 up to 606 hp in the SV cars, and, from September 2026, a 542 hp battery-electric version with 599 km of WLTP range.
Range Rover
JLR's luxury SUV brand, built at Solihull since 1970 and marketed in its own right since 2023, when the group reorganised around four brands. The family runs Range Rover, Sport, Velar, Evoque and the electric GT.

The Range Rover Evoque L is a long-wheelbase Evoque built in China by the Chery Jaguar Land Rover joint venture and sold only there. It uses a 2.0-litre Ingenium turbo four with 48-volt mild-hybrid assistance, 245 hp and all-wheel drive through a nine-speed automatic, with R-Dynamic trim and 20-inch wheels standard. It launched at 429,800 yuan; as the joint venture winds down production before the end of 2026, dealers have discounted it to around half that.
The fifth member of the Range Rover family and the first designed as an electric car from the outset, previewed in prototype form in July 2026. Built on JLR's new EMA platform with a coupe-like grand-tourer silhouette; a hybrid version is planned for later in its life. Full reveal, specs, and pricing are due later in 2026.

News about Range Rover
Land Rover has opened orders for the first battery-electric Range Rover, built at Solihull on the same line as the petrol and plug-in hybrid cars. Two motors give 542 hp and 850 Nm, the usable 118.5 kWh pack is rated at 372 miles WLTP in the UK and 333 miles EPA in the US, and the off-road figures carry over: 900 mm wading, traction control that reacts in 50 milliseconds, and one-pedal descent on 45-degree slopes. Prices start at $138,000 in the US and £154,070 (about $208,200) in the UK.
Chery Jaguar Land Rover priced its first Freelander-badged model from 339,900 yuan (about $50,100), rising to 429,900 yuan for the top six-seater. The venture had publicly aimed at the 300,000 yuan segment, and the entry car lands 13 percent above that target.
Land Rover previewed the Range Rover GT, a fifth family member and the brand's first battery-electric Range Rover, on the new EMA platform with a lower, coupe-like body. Outlets that got early access describe a single 13in touchscreen, a semi-translucent console with wireless chargers, and 800V fast charging, though Land Rover itself has confirmed no numbers yet. Full specs and pricing are due later in 2026.
Range Rover began in June 1970 as a single model: a Land Rover with coil-sprung suspension, permanent four-wheel drive and a 3.5-litre Rover V8, aimed at buyers who wanted the off-road ability without the utility-vehicle cabin. It was sold only as a two-door until 1981, and the name has since spread across five models.
It became a brand in its own right in 2023, when Jaguar Land Rover shortened its corporate name to JLR and reorganised around what it calls a House of Brands. Range Rover, Defender, Discovery and Jaguar are each marketed separately from that point. Land Rover was not retired: JLR keeps it as an endorsing trust mark that appears on and inside the three SUV brands’ cars, which is why it remains a marque here as well. The corporate owner is unchanged - Jaguar Land Rover Ltd. of Coventry, held by India’s Tata Motors since 2008.
Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and Velar are assembled at Solihull in the West Midlands, the plant that has built the nameplate since the start. Evoque is built at Halewood on Merseyside, which also takes the electric GT and is being rebuilt around electric production.
The first battery-electric Range Rover went on sale in September 2026, sharing the MLA-Flex platform and the Solihull line with the petrol and plug-in hybrid cars. The GT that follows it is the first Range Rover designed as an electric car from the outset, on JLR’s separate EMA platform.
