Škoda has given the Kodiaq a second plug-in hybrid, and it is the stronger one. The new version makes 200 kW (272 hp) of system output, 50 kW (68 hp) more than the 150 kW (204 hp) Kodiaq iV, which stays on sale. The announcement of 22 October 2026 came with a new top trim, Laurin & Klement, and coincides with the Kodiaq’s tenth anniversary.

What changed in the powertrain

The extra power comes from the engine and the software, not from a bigger battery. A 1.5 TSI four-cylinder petrol engine now makes 130 kW (177 hp) and works with an 85 kW (116 hp) electric motor; Škoda says improvements to the combustion engine and a revised powertrain control unit account for the gain. Peak torque is 400 Nm, and both plug-in hybrids drive the front wheels only.

The traction battery is untouched: 25.7 kWh gross, 19.7 kWh usable, with DC fast charging at up to 50 kW. Škoda says the electric range stays above 100 km but has not published a WLTP figure or a charging time for the new version.

Laurin & Klement and the price

Laurin & Klement is a range-topping trim that can be paired with several engines, the new plug-in hybrid among them. It brings seats with a massage function, silver roof rails, body-coloured bumpers and side sills, wheels designed for the trim and Laurin & Klement badges inside and out. The name is not new to the Kodiaq: it was a trim on the first generation.

In the Czech Republic the 200 kW plug-in hybrid starts at 1,350,000 Czech koruna including VAT. Laurin & Klement pricing starts at 1,260,000 Czech koruna, which is not the price of the plug-in hybrid version.

Škoda says the Kodiaq has found 1.2 million customers in 70 markets since 2016. The second generation, built at Kvasiny since January 2024, accounts for almost 330,000 of them.
