Toyota will sell the Land Cruiser 300 in Japan as a diesel or a hybrid from 1 October 2026. The twin-turbo petrol V6 leaves the Japanese range, and in its place comes the parallel hybrid that debuted in the United Arab Emirates, rated in Japan at 336 kW (457 PS) and 790 Nm.

The hybrid comes only on the two upper grades, where it costs about 1.05 million yen ($7,100) more than the diesel of the same trim. The extra money also buys two seats: every Japanese diesel is a five-seater and both hybrids have seven, with a power-folding third row. Prices include consumption tax.
How the hybrid is built
The system pairs the 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6, rated at 408 PS and 650 Nm in Japanese spec, with a 54 PS, 290 Nm motor-generator between the engine and the 10-speed automatic. Its Japanese WLTC rating is 9.4 km/L (10.6 l/100 km). The 3.3-litre twin-turbo diesel carries on at 227 kW (309 PS) and 700 Nm.
Land Cruiser 300 GX equipment
The diesel GX, the cheapest version, now has electronic front and rear differential locks as standard, on 18-inch wheels with fabric seats. Wireless phone charging and a cold-weather package are standard across the range. Toyota’s accessory brand Modellista sells an optional body kit for 546,700 yen ($3,700).
