Yangwang U8L gains a four-seat, $216,000 flagship

The Dingcang Edition drops the U8L's third row for two armchairs that recline to 150 degrees, adds a 21.4-inch ceiling screen and two refrigerators, and costs ¥1,458,000 ($216,000). The range-extended powertrain is unchanged at 1,196 hp, with a slightly larger battery good for 230 km of electric CLTC range. See the Yangwang U8L model page.

Yangwang has put the most expensive version of the U8L on sale in China. The Dingcang Edition costs ¥1,458,000 (about $216,000), against ¥1,280,000 (about $190,000) for the six-seat car launched last September, and the money buys a different rear cabin rather than a different car.

The third row is gone. In its place sit two separate armchairs with heating, ventilation, massage, extending leg supports and backrests that recline to 150 degrees. Between them runs a console with its own touchscreen and seven compartments; a 21.4-inch display folds down from the roof. There are two refrigerators, laser-engraved natural wood veneer, and hand-worked Suzhou embroidery on the trim. The boot holds 512 litres and comes with a suit hanger.

Mechanically nothing changes. A 2.0-litre turbocharged engine rated at 272 hp works only as a generator, feeding four wheel-mounted motors that make a combined 1,196 hp and 1,520 Nm. That is enough for 0-100 km/h in 3.5 seconds and a 200 km/h top speed in a car that weighs more than three tonnes. The battery is the second-generation 56.58 kWh Blade pack, worth 230 km of electric CLTC range, with a total of 1,205 km once the engine is running.

The U8L itself is the stretched version of Yangwang’s U8, 5,400 mm long on a 3,250 mm wheelbase, 372 mm and 200 mm more than the standard off-roader. All of it went into the rear cabin, which is what makes a four-seat variant worth building at all. Volume is not the point: the six-seat U8L was handed over 831 times in the first half of 2026.
