The Wrangler is Jeep’s body-on-frame off-roader and the direct descendant of the wartime Willys MB. Doors, roof and windscreen all come off, which no rival still offers, and every version has four-wheel drive with a low range. It is sold as a two-door and as a longer four-door.
Powertrain. For 2026 the range is petrol only: Jeep dropped the 4xe plug-in hybrid as part of a wider Stellantis retreat from plug-in hybrids in North America. The standard engine is the 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 with 285 hp and 353 Nm, still available with a six-speed manual as well as the eight-speed automatic. A 2.0-litre turbocharged four with 270 hp is an option on most trims, automatic only. The 6.4-litre HEMI V8 with 470 hp and 637 Nm powers the Moab 392 at the top of the range.
Trims and hardware. The lineup runs Sport, Sport S, Willys, Sahara, Rubicon, Rubicon X and Moab 392. Sport and Willys use the Command-Trac part-time system with a 2.72:1 low range; Willys adds a locking rear axle and off-road tyres. Rubicon uses Rock-Trac with a 4.0:1 low range, locking differentials front and rear, and a front anti-roll bar that disconnects.
Pricing. A two-door Sport opens the range at $36,035 and the four-door Sport at $41,035. The Moab 392 tops it at $79,995.
Twelve 4 Twelve special editions
Jeep is releasing one special-edition Wrangler a month through 2026 to mark the brand’s 85th anniversary, a programme it calls Twelve 4 Twelve. Most are built on the Willys trim. Two of them are covered here.
Wrangler Laredo
The Laredo name returns to the Wrangler after almost forty years, having last been used between 1987 and 1995. It refers to Laredo, Texas, and the edition is built on the Willys with the Xtreme 35 package: a 1-inch suspension lift, 35-inch BFGoodrich KO2 all-terrain tyres and 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels, plus bronze tow hooks and a sand-coloured soft top.
Outside, American Southwest graphics run with Laredo lettering across the bonnet, bronze accents, dedicated badging and a 4WD logo on the tailgate. Inside, Bison Brown leather is stitched in Mayan Gold thread with a Laredo emblem on the centre console. It uses the 3.6-litre V6 and the eight-speed automatic. Pricing starts at $53,240 for the two-door and $55,620 for the four-door.
Wrangler America250
The seventh edition in the programme, and the one that stacks three anniversaries: 85 years of Jeep, 85 years of Captain America, who first appeared in comics in March 1941, and 250 years of the United States. It was developed with Marvel Studios.
Also built on the Willys, it is painted Bright White with red and blue tricolour graphics along the lower body, doors and bonnet, and the spare-tyre cover reproduces Captain America’s shield in full colour. The soft top is denim-texture blue, the 33-inch BFGoodrich All-Terrains sit on matching blue wheels, and the recovery hooks are red. Inside there are blue leather seats with America250 patch embroidery, red seatbelts, red-white-and-blue stitching on the steering wheel, and a 12.3-inch Uconnect 5 system with a custom launch screen. All three engines carry over. The premium over the Willys base is $2,095, with sales beginning in the summer of 2026 in the United States.
