The Kia PV5 is a modular electric van built on Kia’s dedicated E-GMP.S platform for “platform beyond vehicles” (PBV) - commercial and passenger vans engineered from the ground up as a family of body styles rather than adapted from a passenger car. Kia has sold over 39,000 PV5s worldwide through the first eight months of 2026, and by August it had become Europe’s best-selling small electric van.
The Passenger version, aimed at ride-hailing fleets, shuttle operators and private buyers, comes with a 51.5 kWh Standard Range or 71.2 kWh Long Range battery, producing 120 hp and 250 Nm or 161 hp on the larger pack. WLTP range runs from 295 km on the Standard Range up to 412 km on the Long Range in the 5-seat body; the 2-2-3 seven-seat layout is rated slightly lower, at 397 km on the Long Range. In Europe the 5-seat Passenger starts from EUR 38,390 on the Standard Range and EUR 42,390 on the Long Range; the 7-seat layout starts from EUR 40,190 and EUR 47,240 respectively. DC fast charging takes the battery from 10 to 80 percent in around 30 minutes.
The Cargo van shares the same running gear in Compact, Long and High Roof lengths and reaches up to 416 km of WLTP range on the Long Range pack. Kia also offers a smaller 43.3 kWh LFP battery on some Cargo body configurations for European fleet buyers who don’t need the longer range; Kia has not published pricing or a range figure for that pack. A Chassis Cab and a wheelchair-accessible version round out Kia’s own lineup, while conversion partners build the upscale PV5 Prime, a camper, and refrigerated and box-body versions - roughly ten configurations in total, all sharing the same cab, battery menu and motor options.
Kia builds every PV5 at EVO Plant East in Hwaseong, South Korea, the first factory built specifically for the PBV family. The van has launched in South Korea, Europe, Japan and Australia, with Canada following in the fourth quarter of 2026; a US version has not been officially confirmed.
