The Renault Niagara is a midsize pickup built on the RGMP platform specifically for Latin America, progressively replacing the Oroch. It is built at Renault's Santa Isabel plant in Córdoba, Argentina, with Brazil, Argentina and Colombia as lead markets. At launch it runs a 1.3-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol rated 156 hp, with front-wheel-drive manual and 4x4 dual-clutch automatic versions; a hybrid follows later. Sales start in November 2026 and Renault has not announced prices.

Overview

The Niagara is Renault’s midsize pickup for Latin America, a market the brand has served with the smaller Oroch since 2015. It rides on the RGMP platform and is aimed at buyers who want SUV-like comfort with a pickup’s load-carrying ability, a segment led regionally by the Toyota Hilux, Fiat Toro and Chevrolet S10. Renault builds the Niagara at its Santa Isabel plant in Córdoba, Argentina, and has said the plant is the only site in the group that will assemble it.

At launch the Niagara runs a 1.3-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine (TCe) rated 156 hp and 270 Nm. Front-wheel-drive versions pair it with a six-speed manual gearbox; the 4x4, which adds a multi-link rear suspension in place of the simpler setup on the front-drive versions, uses a six-speed dual-clutch automatic. In Brazil, where the TCe also runs on ethanol, output rises to up to 160 hp on that fuel. Renault says a hybrid version will follow, without giving a date.

The load bed holds 938 litres and payload is rated at 654 kg, with ground clearance up to 233 mm on the 4x4. Inside, the Niagara gets a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch touchscreen running Renault’s OpenR Link software, which brings Google built in, including the Gemini voice assistant. Standard driver-assistance equipment includes 360-degree cameras, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assistance and automatic parking, a broader package than the Oroch it replaces carried.

Sales start in November 2026, with Brazil, Argentina and Colombia as the first markets; Renault has not announced prices. Elsewhere in its range, Renault builds very different cars on very different platforms, from the Renault 4 E-Tech Electric Plein Sud hatchback to the electric Megane E-Tech, so the Niagara’s dedicated pickup platform is a departure rather than a shared underpinning with anything else the brand currently sells.
