The ID. UNYX 07 is a China-only electric sedan built by Volkswagen Anhui in Hefei, on sale since 23 May 2026. Its significance is electrical rather than mechanical: it is the first production car on the China Electronic Architecture, the zonal system Volkswagen developed in China with Xpeng and Cariad, and the reference point for the argument that Volkswagen’s Chinese operation now develops faster and cheaper than its German one.
Powertrain. One specification. A single rear motor rated at 170 kW (228 hp), a 59.9 kWh Gotion lithium iron phosphate battery, 558 km of CLTC range and a 160 km/h top speed. Rear-wheel drive only. The platform underneath is MEB, with CEA layered over it.
Software and assistance. The cabin runs four connected screens on a MediaTek 8676 chip, standard across the range. Highway navigate-on-autopilot is standard and works on cameras alone, with no LiDAR fitted. A LiDAR version to enable urban navigation was announced for the second half of 2026.
Size and price. The car is 4,853 mm long on a 2,826 mm wheelbase, a little longer than a Jetta and around 11 cm shorter than the European ID.7. Two trims are offered: Pure at ¥129,900 ($19,200) and Pure SE at ¥139,900 ($20,700). A launch offer opened the car at ¥109,900 (~$16,300) for orders placed before 1 June, ¥20,000 (~$3,000) below list.
