Seal 6 DM-i platform and positioning
The Seal 06 DM-i is a plug-in hybrid mid-size car from BYD’s Ocean range. It launched in China in May 2024 as a saloon, and an estate, the Seal 06 DM-i Touring, followed there in July 2025. BYD brought both to Europe as the Seal 6 DM-i, showing them at IAA Mobility 2025, with UK deliveries from December 2025. In China the Seal 06 moved to a new generation in August 2026; the Seal 6 DM-i sold in Europe is the first-generation car.
Seal 6 DM-i powertrain and range
Every version pairs a 1.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor that drives the front wheels, in BYD’s DM-i layout. The Boost carries a 10.08 kWh Blade battery and 181 hp. It reaches 100 km/h in 8.9 seconds and has 31-34 miles (50-55 km) of WLTP electric range. The Comfort has a 19 kWh battery and 209 hp and cuts the sprint to 8.5 seconds. It quotes 65 miles (105 km) of electric range as a saloon and 62 miles (100 km) as a Touring. Combined range is up to 935 miles (1,505 km) for the saloon. The Boost charges on AC at 3.3 kW; the Comfort takes 6.6 kW on AC and up to 26 kW on a DC charger.
Seal 6 DM-i Touring
The Touring was the first estate BYD offered in Europe. It shares the saloon’s 4,840 mm length and 2,790 mm wheelbase, stands 1,505 mm tall against 1,495 mm, and has a 500-litre boot that opens out to 1,535 litres, against the saloon’s 491 and 1,370 litres.
Seal 6 DM-i price and trims
Both bodies come in Boost and Comfort trim. BYD UK launched the saloon at £33,990 (~$46,600) (Boost) and £36,990 (~$50,700) (Comfort) on the road, and the Touring at £34,990 (~$47,900) and £37,990 (~$52,000). The cabin is built around a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, and the car rides on 18-inch wheels.
