Overview

The Ford Puma Gen-E is the battery-electric variant of the Puma subcompact crossover, sharing its body, interior, and 4,214 mm footprint with the petrol version while replacing the EcoBoost engine with an electric powertrain. It occupies the same B-segment crossover space as the regular Puma but competes directly with electric rivals like the Vauxhall/Opel Mokka Electric.

A single front-mounted motor produces 168 PS (166 hp) and 290 Nm of torque, driving the front wheels. Range is up to 259 miles (417 km) on the WLTP cycle for the Select and 251 miles (404 km) for the other trims, with 192 miles on the WLTP motorway cycle. DC fast charging tops out at 100 kW, enough for a 10 to 80 percent top-up in about 26 minutes.

Because the Gen-E keeps the Puma’s hatchback-style boot, it carries over the underfloor storage well, here called the GigaBox, and adds a 43-litre front trunk for charging cables. Ford quotes 523 litres of rear boot space and 566 litres in total. Trim levels are Select, Premium, Black Edition and BlueCruise Edition, the last adding Ford’s hands-free motorway driving system.
