Overview

The Lynk & Co 02 is the first battery-electric car the Geely brand has sold in Europe, and it sits alongside the plug-in hybrid 01, 07 GT and 08 rather than replacing any of them. It measures 4,460 mm long, 1,845 mm wide and 1,573 mm tall on a 2,755 mm wheelbase, and it is built on SEA2, the compact version of Geely’s electric platform, in the group’s Zhangjiakou plant. The same architecture carries the Zeekr X, the Volvo EX30 and the Smart #1, though the 02 is the slipperiest of them at 0.25 Cd.

Europe gets one powertrain. A single rear-mounted motor produces 200 kW, or 272 PS (268 hp), and 343 Nm, for 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds and a top speed of 180 km/h. The battery is a 69 kWh NMC pack with 66 kWh usable, running at a nominal 399 volts, and it is rated at 445 km on the WLTP cycle in More trim or 435 km in Core. DC charging peaks at 150 kW for 10 to 80% in about 30 minutes; the onboard AC charger is 11 kW on the Core and 22 kW on the More. Unladen weight is 1,820 kg and the car is rated to tow 1,600 kg braked, which is a high figure for the class.

Inside, a 15.4-inch central touchscreen handles most functions, with ambient lighting, recycled materials in the trim and artificial leather seats. The More trim brings a 14-speaker Harman Kardon system with a subwoofer, six-way powered front seats with lumbar adjustment and memory, and a heated steering wheel. Boot space is 410 litres behind the rear seats and 1,349 litres with them folded, plus a 15-litre compartment under the bonnet. Every car carries the brand’s vehicle-to-load function and the Co:lab sharing tools, which let an owner hand the car to another user through the Lynk & Co app.

The body uses frameless mirrors, flush electronic door handles and a full-width rear light bar, in Techno Magenta, Grid Gray, Crystal White and Cosmic Blue, on 19-inch or 20-inch wheels. Lynk & Co designed the car at its studio in Gothenburg and says it worked from more than 6,000 feature requests submitted by 01 owners through the in-car Co:lab app. Two trims are sold in Germany: Core from EUR 35,995 and More from EUR 39,995, ordered online or through the brand’s Clubs rather than a franchised dealer network.

SEA2, the compact version of Geely's electric platform, which also underpins the Zeekr X, the Volvo EX30 and the Smart #1. The 02 is the aerodynamic outlier of that group at 0.25 Cd against the Zeekr X's 0.28.
