The Stelato G9 is the second model from Stelato, the joint brand of BAIC Group and Huawei under the HIMA alliance. Where the first model, the S9, is a sleek full-size sedan and wagon, the G9 takes a deliberately different direction: a large, angular SUV with vertical proportions and a split rear door carrying a spare wheel - a silhouette that references the Land Rover Defender school of design. Official photos were published in mid-2026, following earlier certification data released by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
The body measures 5,206 mm long, 2,050 mm wide and 1,897 mm tall on a 3,160 mm wheelbase. Fitting the externally mounted spare wheel to the split tailgate extends the quoted length to 5,377 mm, which is why both figures appear in certification data. Wheel options are 20 or 22 inches. All-wheel drive, air suspension, adaptive dampers and rear-wheel steering are standard across the range, on an 800V electrical architecture. Towing capacity is 2,000 kg.
The EREV powertrain uses a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine of 160 hp running exclusively as a generator, paired with two electric motors for a combined 594 hp. The battery is 56 or 75.4 kWh depending on version, giving up to 405 km of electric-only CLTC range and 1,366 km in total. A pure BEV variant is also offered, using a 120 kWh battery and two motors for the same 594 hp combined output and 728 km of CLTC range.
The exterior has vertical headlight clusters with LED rings, an 892-line lidar unit above the windshield, flush door handles, and deployable running boards. The interior accommodates five or six passengers, with three screens across the front and a ceiling-mounted display for the rear; second-row seats in the six-seat cabin heat, ventilate, massage and carry power leg rests. Huawei supplies both the HarmonyOS Cockpit infotainment and the ADS advanced driver-assistance system, along with projector-capable headlights.
Options aimed at outdoor use include the external spare wheel, a roof tent reachable from inside the cabin, an awning, and a fold-out table built into the tailgate.
Chinese preorders opened in August 2026, with the range priced from ¥439,800 to ¥559,800 (about $64,200 to $81,700). Deliveries are expected before the end of 2026.
