Stelato published the first official photos of the G9 in June 2026, after China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released certification data earlier. Stelato is the joint brand of BAIC Group and Huawei operating inside the HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) - the same framework as Aito (Seres), Luxeed (Chery), and Maextro, BAIC’s separate luxury sedan brand. The G9 is the second Stelato model, following the S9 full-size sedan and wagon.
Design. The G9 takes a deliberate break from the S9’s sleek lines. A tall, angular body with a split rear door carrying an externally mounted spare wheel puts it in Land Rover Defender territory by visual association - though the G9 is not a body-on-frame truck. Two body lengths are available: 5,206 mm and 5,377 mm. Both share a 2,050 mm width, a 1,897 mm height, and a 3,160 mm wheelbase. Wheel options are 20 or 22 inches. The exterior has vertical headlight clusters with LED rings, a lidar unit above the windshield, flush door handles, and deployable running boards. All-wheel drive is standard.
Powertrains. Both EREV and BEV variants are announced, each producing 594 hp combined. The EREV uses a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine as a generator alongside a 75.4 kWh battery, giving more than 400 km of electric-only CLTC range and more than 1,300 km total. The BEV has a 120 kWh battery and more than 700 km of CLTC range.
Interior. Five or six seat configurations are available. Huawei supplies the HarmonyOS Cockpit infotainment and the ADS driver-assistance system; the lidar is part of the ADS hardware. Detailed cabin specifications have not been released.
China sales are expected before the end of 2026. Pricing has not been announced.
