VW ID. Tiguan will replace the ID.4 and ID.5

Volkswagen has confirmed the name of its next electric SUV: ID. Tiguan. The world premiere is in early October 2026 and sales start at the beginning of 2027. It succeeds both the ID.4 and the coupe-style ID.5.

Volkswagen says the ID.4 and ID.5 have together been delivered more than 950,000 times since 2021. Volkswagen has shown the car only as a camouflaged near-production prototype. The release gives no battery size, power, range or build plant.

The Tiguan name moves to the electric range

The ID. Polo takes its name from the Polo and the ID. Cross from the T-Cross. The ID. Tiguan does the same with the Tiguan. According to Volkswagen, the Tiguan is currently the best-selling model worldwide for both the Volkswagen brand and the Volkswagen Group, with more than 8.3 million built so far.

The petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid Tiguan continues alongside it.
