Volkswagen unveiled the production ID. Tiguan on 9 October, the premiere our 30 September story said was coming. The electric SUV replaces the ID.4 and the coupe-style ID.5 in early 2027, while the petrol, diesel and hybrid Tiguan stays on sale. Pre-sales were set to open in Germany and many other European countries on 13 October, at prices from €42,695. The release does not say which version that entry price buys.
ID. Tiguan versions against the ID.4
Volkswagen’s release gives one range figure for the whole line, up to 600 km WLTP. The per-version ranges below come from CarExpert’s report on the reveal. The ID.4 figures are the top of the combined WLTP range Volkswagen Germany publishes for each version, as on our ID.4 page.
| Version | Power (kW) | Battery (kWh) | Range (km, WLTP) | ID.4 counterpart (km, WLTP) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ID. Tiguan 140 kW, rear-wheel drive | 140 | 58 | 450 | 438 (Pure) |
| ID. Tiguan 210 kW, rear-wheel drive | 210 | 77 | 600 | 574 (Pro) |
| ID. Tiguan 4MOTION 220 kW | 220 | 77 | 560 | 563 (Pro 4MOTION) |
The 600 km figure is an expected one, and 450 and 560 km are maximums. The 210 kW car repeats the ID.4 Pro’s 210 kW, its 77 kWh battery size and its 165 kW peak DC rate, with the same 10 to 80% charge in about 29 minutes. Range is the change: 26 km more on paper than the Pro’s maximum. The 140 kW car adds 12 km to the ID.4 Pure, while the 4MOTION is 3 km short of the ID.4 Pro 4MOTION.
ID. Tiguan cabin and trims
The cabin adds a 12-inch co-driver display, which Volkswagen says is a first for a European Volkswagen, and a “Retro” display mode that shows the blue and red dials of a Golf IV.

Climate controls move to a button bar and volume to a controller on the centre console, where the ID.4 uses backlit sliders. Trims are Trend, Life, Style and R-Line.
Orders, timing and build location
Volkswagen says the car launches as early as the beginning of 2027. CarExpert reports it reaching Australia in the first half of 2027. The ID. Tiguan comes from the Emden plant, where the ID.4 is already built, and the combustion Tiguan from Wolfsburg.
