Mercedes-Benz unveiled the second facelift of the EQS on 2 April 2026, its electric flagship sedan since 2021. The body carries over, but the underlying electronics are new: the EQS moves from a 400-volt to an 800-volt architecture, the first update of its kind across the lineup, and pairs it with a larger 122 kWh battery.
The range opens with the rear-wheel-drive EQS 400 at 362 hp and a 112 kWh battery for 817 km WLTP, and runs through the EQS 450+ at 402 hp and 926 km, the longest range in the lineup. The all-wheel-drive EQS 500 4MATIC and EQS 580 4MATIC share the 122 kWh pack and 876 km of range, with 469 hp and 577 hp respectively. Peak DC charging rises to 350 kW, adding 320 km of range in 10 minutes.
The facelift also introduces steer-by-wire. It was not ready at launch and became an orderable option in October 2026. Mercedes says that makes it the first German carmaker to offer the technology on a production car. The cabin runs the new MB.OS software platform.
The updated EQS went on sale in Germany in April 2026, from 94,403 euros for the EQS 400 to 134,732 euros for the EQS 580 4MATIC. It reaches the United States in the second half of 2026 as a 2027 model year vehicle; US pricing has not been announced.
