Xpeng has shown the G9L, a new SUV that fills the gap between the standard G9 and the six-seat flagship GX. It trades the GX’s third row for a five-seat cabin and a more compact footprint, while keeping the same 800V electrical architecture - the GX is only 145 mm longer overall despite a wheelbase just 15 mm longer than the G9L’s.

The G9L measures 5,120 mm long, 1,999 mm wide and 1,782 mm tall on a 3,100 mm wheelbase, with a 1,152-litre boot.

Four powertrains, EREV or EV

Xpeng is launching the G9L with both extended-range and pure electric options. In the EREV lineup, a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine works purely as a generator; the rear-wheel-drive version pairs it with a single 286 hp motor, while the all-wheel-drive version adds a second motor for 503 hp combined. The battery-electric lineup drops the generator engine: 367 hp for the rear-wheel-drive EV, and 585 hp for the dual-motor all-wheel-drive EV. Xpeng has not disclosed battery capacity or range for either powertrain.

China sales are due to open before the end of 2026, with Xpeng planning an export push for the G9L afterward.
